Privacy policy

VibeFeed is a small social app for closed circles of friends. This page explains, simply and honestly, what information we process, why, and what rights you have.

Data controller

Deniz Filikci is the data controller for the processing of your information in VibeFeed.

What data we process

• Account: name, username, email, password (stored only as a hash), plus profile picture, banner and bio if you add them.
• Content: your thoughts and memories, comments, images, short videos, stories, poll votes, likes, saved posts, @ mentions, circle memberships, friendships and activity.
• Messages: messages in the circle chat and in private conversations, including images you send, reactions, quoted replies and when a message has been seen.
• Technical: your device's language choice, one notification token per device, the number on the app icon, reports, blocks and who has viewed your stories.

Purposes and legal basis

We process your information in order to provide the service itself: your account, your feed, your circles, your messages and your notifications. The legal basis is our agreement with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).

We process reports and blocks so we can keep the service free of offensive content. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a safe community (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).

Data processors

• Supabase. Database and file storage. Data is stored in the EU, the Stockholm region.
• Vercel. Hosting of the app itself.
• Apple. Delivers push notifications to your iPhone. A notification can contain the sender's name and an excerpt of the message, because it has to be readable on the lock screen.
• Google. Sends confirmation and password reset emails from our mail account to your email address.

The database and the files themselves do not leave the EU. Apple and Google only process what is needed to deliver notifications and email respectively, and may in that connection process information outside the EU on their standard terms.

Messages

Messages in VibeFeed are not end-to-end encrypted. They are sent encrypted (TLS) and stored with Supabase, and only the participants in a conversation can see them in the app. But we would rather say it straight out: as the party responsible for the database, we have technical access to the content. We do not read along, and we do not use your messages for anything other than delivering them, but do not write anything in an app like this that you cannot bear to have sitting with a service.

Stories

A story disappears automatically after 24 hours. You can delete it yourself before that. For as long as it is there, you can see who in your circle has viewed it, and they can see yours.

Ads

VibeFeed shows no ads. There is no ad SDK running in the app, we do not track you across apps and websites, and you are therefore not asked for tracking permission either. Should that ever change, we will update this policy, and you will be asked first.

Reports and blocking

You can report posts, comments, messages and stories. A report hides the content from you immediately, and when enough people report the same thing, it is hidden from everyone. You can also block a user: then the two of you no longer see each other's content, and your friendship and requests are removed. The person is not notified about it.

Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use VibeFeed. See the terms.

Camera, microphone and photos

The app asks for access to the camera, the microphone and your photo library when you choose to take or pick a photo or a video for a memory, a story, a comment or a message. We never fetch anything from your photo library on our own.

Storage and deletion

We keep your information until you delete it yourself. Individual posts, comments, messages and stories can be deleted as you go, and stories disappear on their own after 24 hours. If you create an account without confirming your email, it is deleted automatically after 24 hours.

If you choose Delete account in the app, your profile, your posts, comments, messages, images, videos and all other information are removed permanently. Messages you have sent into other people's conversations disappear too.

Your rights

You have the right to access your information, the right to have incorrect information corrected, and the right to deletion. Write to official@vibefeed.dk and we'll help.

Cookies and local storage

We don't use tracking cookies. The app only stores these things locally on your device:

• your login session, so you don't have to log in every time
• your language choice (vf_lang)
• the device's key and token for notifications (vf_device_secret, vf_push_token, vf_last_check)
• what you have seen, so dots and rings are correct (vf_feed_seen, vf_post_seen, vf_notif_seen)
• where you were in the app, so a reload lands in the same place (vf_cur_tab, vf_cur_feed)
• the keyboard height, so the field doesn't jump (vf_kbh-p, vf_kbh-l)
• an old ad consent (vf_consent), if you have used the app before. It is not used for anything as long as there are no ads.
